iPlanet was a software project made in partnership with netscape and sun microsystems under the umbrella of their parent company, AOL. they wanted flash presentations for their sales crew.
after the first meeting with department heads in their palo alto, california boardroom, it was determined that we would give them two design options:
A) one in any style we chose and
B) one with the AOL brand in mind.
they chose the AOL-style round headed guy rather than our retro-look. they wanted three produced in the 1st and 3rd quarters of 2001.
it was up to us to make sense of 200 yawn-filled pages of technical "white paper" and condense them into three to five-minute flash movies that would sell the product, which often cost the client over six figures per module.
after writing and getting the copy approved, ideografix chose music, found voice talent and started the storyboards. we completed the movie for the module you see here, "market maker," a favorite sales presentation of the series.
